Death Bed Questions

A conversation deck for the living

About Death Bed Questions

Death Bed Questions is a collection of conversation decks designed to help people have meaningful, honest, and healing conversations with those they love, while they still can.

Created by Jo Cox-Brown, the decks were born from lived experience of grief and loss. After losing her Dad, her Mum, her team in 9/11, and her partner Tim, Jo found herself lying awake at night with questions she would never get to ask.

What began as a personal act of healing became a wider offering. A way to help others ask the questions that matter most before it’s too late.
The Death Bed Questions series includes six themed decks and one mixed “Essentials” deck, covering ancestry, childhood, love, loss, meaning, and legacy. Each deck contains 53 carefully written questions designed to invite depth, tenderness, truth, and connection.

These are not cards about death. They are cards about life, presence, and love.

Why This Work Matters

Many of us avoid deep conversations until a crisis forces them. Death Bed Questions gently removes that barrier, offering a simple but powerful tool to open dialogue across generations, relationships, and life stages.

The decks are used by families, couples, therapists, grief counsellors, end-of-life doulas, and individuals seeking reflection and connection. They are trauma-aware, emotionally intelligent, and designed to feel safe and accessible.

At their heart, the decks ask one question: What would change if we spoke more honestly while we still can?
