Death Bed Questions was created by Jo Cox-Brown. It began with one family, one hospital room, and the five months Jo had left with her mum.

With time suddenly measured, Jo found herself asking questions she might otherwise never have thought to ask. About childhood. Family. Love. Loss. The choices that shape a life, and the small memories that stay with us.

Every night after work, Jo went to the hospital and they sat with a cup of tea, or a cold Fanta and ice cream on the hot nights, and talked.

As they talked, Jo began to discover parts of her mum’s story she had never known. Things that had happened long before she was there to witness them. Stories that might otherwise have quietly disappeared.

Those conversations became something precious.

And from them came Death Bed Questions: a collection of thoughtful questions designed to open up the conversations we don’t always think to have.

Not simply about dying, but about living. About the people we have been, the lives we have led, and the stories we leave behind.

Because sometimes, the simplest questions give us the chance to know someone a little more deeply, while we still can.
